DIY mirror frame: workshops and best design ideas

In modern times, the author's design of rooms is quite actively used. The standard decoration of the interior and household items is no longer so fashionable and relevant. The highest class is the availability of hand-made objects and accessories - flowerpots, lamps, flowerpots, candlesticks, chandeliers ... Well, the mirrors in a beautiful frame created by the owners manually is a real art!

The advantages of this mirror design are quite obvious. You can select the design and dimensions of the frame as accurately as possible in accordance with the general direction of interior design. So, the mirror will become an integral part of the environment and will look very harmonious.

A frame for a mirror can be made from familiar materials (for example, a skirting board or an old frame from under a picture), or it is better to create something more original and non-standard. For these purposes, you can use everything that’s enough for imagination: mosaic, beads, beads, sequins, pearls, shells, pebbles, pebbles, rope, small branches, all kinds of other decorations and even cutlery!

Add a touch of elegance to the interior. Try to create a very delicate and romantic frame for the mirror with a lace napkin and spray paint.

DIY mirror in a bright striped frame

If there is an abundance of white in your interior, it will not hurt to make a bright accent. So, for example, against a background of snow-white walls, a mirror in a multi-colored striped frame that can easily be made at home will simply look amazingly and freshly.

To do this, it is not necessary to buy spray cans of different colors. A great idea is to use decorative multi-colored adhesive tape, which is much simpler, more practical and neater. The width of the tape can be the same, but still different stripes will look much more interesting in the decoration of the frame.

Now it's up to the small. We cut the strips of the required length and glue our frame, leaving the ends on the back side.

Cut off all excess with a special knife or scissors. To prevent the edges of the tape sticking out (even from the back), smooth them with glue.

Definitely, now such a mirror will dilute your light monophonic interior, making it more rainbow and modern.

Mirror framed from cutlery: an exclusive thing in the kitchen

Quite extravagant, but from that no less elegant and original will look in the kitchen mirror in the frame of cutlery. To do such a thing with your own hands, prepare the following materials:

  • cutlery;
  • a mirror;
  • dishes (plate) under the mirror;
  • glue (glue gun with hot glue);
  • cardboard.

From thick cardboard (or plywood), we cut out a circle with a diameter a couple of centimeters smaller than the plate itself.

We attach cutlery to the cardboard to estimate the final result. You can arrange the devices both in a strict order, alternating forks, spoons and knives in turn, and in any order - at your discretion.

Using a glue gun, glue the devices to the cardboard.

Glue the plate on top.

It remains only to glue the mirror in the middle and dream up with the decoration of this work. In our case, these are large beads around the circumference.

A unique mirror in the frame of cutlery will be a key emphasis on the interior of the kitchen.

A similar idea can be developed. Conventional disposable plastic appliances painted in the desired color can also be an excellent material.

The original use of ice cream sticks

And fans of “Eskimo” recommend not to rush to throw sticks. Having collected enough, you can make a stunning frame for the mirror, and not only!

Such a mirror will look no worse than a store counterpart. Aesthetically, stylishly, creatively!

Marine style

A frame covered with shells, pebbles and other marine attributes will evoke memories of the sea. But in order to reliably fix sufficiently heavy elements on the base, you should use a good adhesive base, double-sided tape or paint primer.

Unusual jewelry of various shapes require more substantial time costs. Using putty or sealant, it is imperative to fill in all the voids between the elements in order to prevent the accumulation of dust. Care will also require a special approach, since many details of such a decorative work do not tolerate contact with detergents.

Mosaic magic

Creating products from mosaics is a very exciting activity. And the mosaic decor of the frame for the mirror is always unique, beautiful, elegant and practical. The advantages of this design in the acceptable cost of materials and ease of use. After all, even fragments of broken dishes are suitable for mosaic works.

You can also use fragments of glass, tiles, jewelry. The mirror is attached to the base of particleboard or plywood sheet. Naturally, its size should be larger than the mirror itself. And already on the protruding edges of the base elements of the mosaic are glued.

In addition to the glue gun, you will need a special grout to fill the gaps between the fragments, mites to form the figured particles of the mosaic, as well as a spatula to apply grout, and a soft sponge to remove its residues. And, of course, imagination, inspiration and a little patience will be very helpful.
